The ritual of Kuan poojan is performed by a new mother near a source of water, generally a Well, for the benefit of her new born child’s health and prosperity. She walks to the well with Dhol-Nagada, brings offerings to it and performs a small pooja before taking a bath with her new born child as a sign of seeking the well’s blessings. The family and friends who are invited to to witness this devotion, shower the mother and child with warm wishes and gifts.
