What is Teej Ceremony

Teej means the Third Day, the festival is celebrated on the third day after the full moon night. Celebrations of teej will begin in the monsoon season and different types of teej celebrations like Haryali Teej, Kajari Teej, and Hartalika Teej. Women offer prayers to Goddess Parvati along with Lord Shiva seeking wellness for their husbands. In some places, Radha Krishna together was praised for their eternal love. In South India, the festival is observed with the name of Hartalika Teej, and Gowri Habba where Goddess Swarna Gowri is worshipped for the wellness of the family.
In the Teej festival, women together pray all night are observed to be fasting called as Nirjal Vrath. The next morning, they will wear traditional red sarees and matching jewels presented by their husbands. Every woman will decorate her hand with mehndi. Girls who are getting married will receive presents and blessings from their in-laws. The idol of Mata Parvati made of sand is get worshipped. Women come together and pray for the wealth and wellness of their families by offering gifts to Goddess Parvati.
The central attraction of teej festival is swinging, swings are arranged to the branches of trees and women come to swing joyfully by singing special songs on teej.
